Women’s History Month: Highlighting Women in the Visual & Performing Arts

Today is International Women’s Day, and the start of Women’s History Month, so here are some local events that highlight women in the visual & performing arts! Philadelphia Museum of Art Throughout March, women musicians and artists are the focus of the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Friday Nights recurring after-hours events. Celebrating Women in Creative Reuse!

Creative reuse organizations across the country improve the environment, enhance the arts and culture of their communities, and contribute to local, sustainable economies. In honor of Women’s History Month, we’d like to shine a spotlight on three major creative reuse organizations in Pennsylvania. Why? Because all three organizations were started by women, are lead by women, and have mostly women on staff. “Gender Weave Project” at Mt. Airy Art Garage

Today the re salutes Mt. Airy Art Garage, an exceptional nonprofit Arts Hub that “functions as a resource center of creativity for artists, art lovers, and all those who seek to bring an eco-friendly and artistic sensibility to their lives.” MAAG houses artist studios and gallery space for its members – mainly artists in Northwest Philadelphia – in a gorgeously renovated former warehouse space in downtown Mt.
