Bethany Rose Rusen, assemblage sculpturalist and featured reCreate artist from last June has inspired us again with both her practical and creative applications of recent re finds. Check out her addition of casters to her bed for easy maneuverability! We have a wide variety of hardware available in the store for your DIY home projects. And those of you who have been in the store recently will probably recognize the silver letters from a local film production that Bethany used to create a hip decorative accent in her house. Last Sunday’s Mixed Media Assemblage workshop with Bethany Rose Rusen was a great event! Here are some pictures of the workshop and the artists’ works in progress… Bethany’s proposal for the workshop seemed like a perfect idea for our store, and the actual event still managed to go above and beyond my expectations. What made the event such as success is that everyone’s boxes managed to utilize all the beautiful but seemingly useless odds and ends around the store. Bethany Rusen draws on a wide variety of interests, materials, theories, and personal histories to construct her mixed media site-responsive sculptural objects. Her work seeks to explore the visceral and emotional aspects of body experience. Rusen graduated with a BFA from Tyler School of Art in 2003 and earned her MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 2010. Her work has been exhibited nationally at a variety of venues, including Texas Tech University, Boston University and Concordia University in Minnesota.
