Dylan DeVlieger

Tyler School of Art grad and Resource Exchange staff member Dylan creates sculptures, gardens, and drawings that all utilize and bring attention to materials that are often thought of as disposable or useless. Dylan, reCreate featured artist of August ’13, creates work that seeks to change our everyday relationship with both art and the environment. He incorporates both reclaimed material and wild plant materials into his work.  Using these things that are often overlooked as both the subject and medium, Dylan highlights our relationship with both our natural and man made environments. his intricate paintings and drawings often use his own hand made and natural inks and dyes. That August, Dylan hosted a reCreate workshop at The Resource Exchange on Making Ink and Dye with Weeds where he taught participants how to identify and use wild plants to create art. Dylan also used lumber from the re to make a portable garden which was featured in the UArts Pop-up Garden hosted by The Philadelphia Horticultural Society.
