A Community Celebration with Greenworks Review!

Philadelphia’s Office of Sustainability released the latest issue of their annual magazine Greenworks Review this week! The Resource Exchange team joined local educators and environmental advocates in the Climate and Urban Systems Partnership’s Climate City to celebrate and reflect on the many ways Philadelphians are working towards a more just and environmentally friendly future.  The Greenworks Review put a spotlight on environmental education for the youth of Philadelphia as well as adults through community-led projects. Making Materials Matter

As makers, we can make a lot of waste. But there are creative solutions for artists and fabricators, from sourcing more sustainable materials to diverting reusable resources from the waste stream. This week, NextFab and The Resource Exchange got together to host an open forum focused on sustainability in the arts. Local artists, organizations, businesses, and city representatives discussed the benefits and challenges of making sustainably. George Washington University: Celebrating Spring with Service & Sustainability!

This Earth Day we wanted to express our gratitude the volunteers who donate their time helping us save materials from landfill and making them accessible to Philadelphia’s creative community! We recently had an incredible group of volunteers visit from George Washington University’s Alternative Breaks Program. Their mission is to empower and challenge all students involved to understand their relationship with the global community through direct service, education, and reflection, while encouraging personal growth, social awareness, and active citizenship.
