The Resource Exchange + The Arden Theatre Company: Celebrating Years of Saving Sets!

In 2012 The Resource Exchange and The Arden Theatre Company saved tons of lengths of rough cut poplar and giant barn doors from their production of Charlotte’s Web. Donating the lumber to The Resource Exchange instead of sending it to landfill enabled our creative customers to reuse the wood in local projects. The barn doors were given a second life in The Philadelphia Sculpture Gym’s warehouse space, and we were thrilled when Little Berlin decided to use the poplar to build their community vegetable garden. Women’s History Month: Highlighting Women in the Visual & Performing Arts

Today is International Women’s Day, and the start of Women’s History Month, so here are some local events that highlight women in the visual & performing arts! Philadelphia Museum of Art Throughout March, women musicians and artists are the focus of the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Friday Nights recurring after-hours events. Vintage Letraset Reuse in Album Artwork!

Resource Exchange customer Perry Shall designs album covers and often uses vintage Letraset letter transfers in his works. Shall has created two beautiful covers for musicians using transfer sheets found in our store. These now-rarely-used graphic design tools are rub-on sheets that transfer letters and images to paper, which means that they can only be used once. But Perry Shall collects the sheets and scans them into a computer so the fonts and graphics can be reused and changed!
