World Maker Faire + The Resource Exchange

mf15ny_badge1This past weekend The New York Hall of Science hosted the World Maker Faire! The event included hundreds of creative activities and displays for people of all ages – including one activity specifically designed to test the uses of recycled materials!

world-maker-fair-4Dana Schloss of the NY Hall of Science, visited The Resource Exchange while she was visiting Philadelphia, and ended up finding all the materials she needed for her activity, “Recycled Motion,” a table set up for participants to create designs out of unexpected materials to see different types of motion and movement emerge.

On the day of the event Dana said, “We have three terrains for which visitors (mostly kids) can build vehicles to cross. There is a water tank, an air table, and a road. People are building amazingly diverse vehicles and coming up with ingenious designs with the materials I nabbed from you guys.”

Vehicles were being made out of art slides, old cd’s, corks, industrial thread spools, plastic pieces, and many more reclaimed and recycled items that Dana found at the re!
