Insect Print Fun with reCreate Featured Artist Joy Waldinger!

insect workshop joy teaching 2Our reCreate Featured Artist of November, Joy Waldinger, taught a workshop on Science, Art, and Insect Prints in our in-store Gallery on Sunday, November 2nd.

Participants were encouraged to link science and art through the process of studying and rendering insects. insect workshop studying bugs

Everyone observed insects from an actual insect collection as well as from books. Then participants drew insect forms on reclaimed pieces of rubber tile that they then cut reliefs into to make stamps. The class was able to use their new stamps to print on salvaged papers and fabrics from The Resource Exchange. insect workshop carving 2 insect insect workshop smiling participant
