Give Salvaged Signs New Life!

DNC stadium strike Dennis and AlisonThere comes a time in every person’s life when they need a sign — perhaps a yard sign, a sign advertising a performance, event or business, or a sign to bring to a protest. Having a durable sign made new can be both expensive and environmentally unsustainable. Vinyl, foam board and corrugated plastic–common sign materials– are not recyclable, so are destined for landfill unless reused. Fortunately, the durability of these materials means they can be easily and repeatedly repurposed with a bit of paint and creativity.  We saved hundreds of pounds of signage in various materials this summer from both the Democratic National Convention (read about it in this blog post!) and Invisible River – an organization that creates immersive, site-specific performances on Philadelphia’s rivers.

We roller painted over some of the foam board, plastic yard signs and large, grommeted vinyl signs to demonstrate how they can be repurposed!

A bunch of the reclaimed vinyl signs were recently repainted by customers to be brought to the Women’s March on Washington!
