We’re glad that we were able to supply reused building materials for an exciting new production that’s playing in Philadelphia this October. The crew from George & Co. came into The Resource Exchange to find some reclaimed materials to support their production, HOLDEN, which is playing at FringeArts October 8th-17th. The team was able to use a lot of building supplies that we salvaged from the strikes other local artistic productions. HOLDEN uses plywood and 2x4s that The Resource Exchange saved from the set of a major motion picture that was shot recently in Philadelphia. The design crew also used salvaged theatre platforms of various sizes and shapes that they found in our warehouse.

The set created in the FringeArts space is a bunker surrounded by piles of wood. Production Manager Megan Thibodeaux says, “The woodpile wall was created by screwing chopped wood onto the surface of [the re’s] platforms and then bracing them from the back so that they could stand up straight to create the illusion of a massive wood pile.”

About HOLDEN:

A tragicomic piece, plumbing a darker dimension of J.D. Salinger’s novel, The Catcher in the Rye. A few obsessive super-fans have taken up residence in Salinger’s private writing bunker. Unbeknownst to the reclusive author himself, their mission to get Salinger to publish once more spirals into a bonfire of longing and delusion.
